"Salterini" Seating Group

John B. Salterini emigrated from Italy to New York in the 1920's and began producing the finest and highest quality iron furniture from his Brooklyn studio in the 1930's.  Initially he was producing pieces mainly for the New York "establishment".  Eventually the company expanded production to meet the growing demand for their furniture, but still maintained the highest standards of quality and design.  Throughout their history, Salterini has partnered with many top designers including Maurizio Tempestini and Tommi Parzinger.  From the early forties until the sixties, Salterini pieces were marketed both for outdoors as well as indoor enjoyment.  One of their ads from the late forties reads "Important decorators are using wrought iron indoors because they find it to be a source of greater decorative effectiveness".  This exceptional, rare and complete seating group is from the Salterini "Rope and Tassel" line.  The set consists of a three seater settee, two arm chairs, two glass top side tables and a glass top coffee table.  It has been professionally restored and newly reupholstered in a high quality, fade resistant outdoor fabric.  The design is timeless and elegant yet not overly formal, and the set would be sensational either indoors or out.
