Kipp Stewart and Stewart MacDougall for Drexel Declaration; Dining Set

We love finding original catalogs/ ads/ literature for pieces.  In addition to the pleasure of getting to see pieces in their vintage settings, it makes the blog posting a breeze. We can never match the word play of Mid-Century advertising execs., so we just respect and repeat their copy.  Below is an original ad for the Declaration series designed by Kipp Stewart and Stewart MacDougall for Drexel from the late 1950's...."Declaration represents a new frontier in American Furniture fashion." ....."a contemporary approach to Early Americana!  Designs as pure and honest as homespun, inspired by Shaker simplicity, interpreted in time-honored, deep brown walnut.  Details as smart as silk." The details on this set are pretty smart.  Our favorite is the chair spindles.  The set has three side chairs and one arm chair.  The table is a drop-leaf and comes with one additional leaf.  The simplicity of the set is reminiscent of Shaker designs and is part of what makes it just as fresh and contemporary, but also as timeless, today as when it was designed in the late 1950's.  The chairs and table are in excellent vintage condition.  Table; Leaves down, 42" w., 26" l., 29" h.  Leaves up, 62" l. Leaves up with 22" leaf, 84" l.  American, c. 1950's  SOLD
